BIL's Engagement
As mentioned, on the 2nd of Raya Haji we went to Puchong for the meminang. I was not in the mood of celebrating but tak mau la ruin the event so I just went along. It's a good thing though to get away from the sombre mood.

Lately I feel so numb. Malas nak buat apa-apa pun. Usually I can't wait for a long school holidays but not this year. Sometimes I feel so guilty to laugh or to have fun with Rizal and Adia. I know this is not healthy I really-really wish this numbness will go away .
I'm tired of crying, can't even listen to When You're Gone
I know the feeling will go away will but the idea of going through it for a period of time really gets into me.
I'm in a dire need of having a vacation. Tak kira la nak pi mana pun.
Penang pun ok or even SP.
Can't believe I would say this but " Cepatla Sekolah..." I'll Be busy with my school work and InsyaAllah things will be ok.

:'(
I've lost my mum......... 16.11.2009 at 8.30 am and I was not there to hold her, to hug her or to kiss her. Ya Allah, aku sangat sedih.......... Hari ni hari ke4 mak tak da kt rumah lagi and I still feel the pain... Ya Allah... memang aku sangat sangat sedih. Aku hilang kawan yang paling rapat denganku. Tak boleh lagi nak share cerita2 dengan mak. Tak boleh lagi nak balik dr Kulim, masuk bilik mak and terus peluk dia. Aku tak leh buat macam tu lagi and I'm gonna miss that......
Aku tak leh nangis kuat2 sb kesian kt bapak. We have to be strong for him tp sebenaqnya aku tak strong langsung. Ya Allah, peritnya rasa hanya Allah saja yang tahu. Bapak setiap kali bfast, he would cry and that hurts me more...
Nak gelak pun tak mau lagi, I feel guilty kalau dok happy2 sgt, mak aku tak ada lagi kt sini. She was very fond of Adia sb dulu when I was pregnant, everytime she touched my belly, Adia wouldn't move and she got scared. On the day Adia was born, she loved the girl so much. Bila balik, she would greet Adia first la.. Cucu Tok balik or Sayang Tok balik......
Ya Allah, sedihnya hati aku... Aku redha tapi aku sangat2 sedih.... Memang kena banyak sabar tp aku tak kuat.... Aku jauh di Kulim, kalau boleh tiap2 hari nak pi kubur mak tp aku tak mampu nak pi tengok mak tiap2 hari.
Masa hari mak dikebumi tu, aku rasa sedih sangat sebab kena tinggal dia sorang2 tak ada siapa yang nak teman. Dia tak pernah tinggal seorang diri walaupun di rumah. Mesti selalu berteman. Malam tu pulak hujan, risaunya hati nanti mak kena hujan pulak, dia cepat pening.
Semua orang suruh aku buat macam tu, tapi aku sangat sedih....
Rasa mcm nak jerit kuat2 tapi aku tak boleh buat macam tu...
Ada benda yang kita boleh share with friends, sisters , husband and mum. Tapi aku dah tak leh share apa2 lagi dengan mak except memories and that I definitely will cherish for the rest of my life....................

What I did..
What I did for the last 2 months? Not much to be told. Everything goes as usual.
We celebrated Hari Raya in Alor Setar ( again :D). Classes and school as usual. Oh and, my brother in law (the youngest one who still thinks Ila is one drop dead gorgeous lady!) is getting engaged this coming Aidil Adha. So we'll go to Puchong for the ceremony this November, InsyaAllah. My mother in law requested us to prepare for the hantaran and we did. Order la, mana reti nak buat sendiri. But the customer (my BIL) is one fussy client! Hehehe... Never in my life that I witness a man making a fuss over every single thing about his engagement ceremony. Can't really blame him la, he wants the best for his big day. He hasn't seen the complete set of the hantaran but I hope he likes them as much as his brother and I like them.

Takluk

It's been a while since I last wrote my entry ya. Been very busy with school, family and assignments...cheh.. not really....
Yes, I've started my classes in USM and to tell you the truth, penat gila.. but kinda fun spending time with new friends. I car pool with two ladies from Kulim, Kak Noreha from MRSM PDRM and this adik Nurul from Kolej MARA. Nice people and easy to work with and fun too. Then we have Fid from Alma and Adz from MRSM Transkrian. These two are in my TESOL Practice Class. Some juniors from UKM, Kaz and Syikin and my Tesl4 senior, Kak Syakirah. Together we study and do assignments. So far so good and no regrets.
We are allowed to take 2 subjects per semester and I took Theory and Practice in TESOL and Statistics Reasoning ( It's called Penaakulan Statistik in BM but we call it Penaklukan Stats). This is really a headache for me la. FYI, I got C6 for my modern maths in SPM and I didn't even take Add Maths. Aiiyyooo... sangat susah!! ANOVA tu apa ha? miu, kiu , chi, x bar, boxplot, stem and leaf, histogram... what the heck la... But never mind, this is a challenge for you Shahid!

Slumber Party

Adia invited two of her good friends to sleep over our house today. The truth is I'm kinda tired to entertain a bunch of 9 y.o girls as my day was a bit hectic today. But as usual, pity her... so I gave my permission. It's Friday tomorrow so I was hoping this would just be A O.K. Little did I know that these 3 girls can be very noisy! They were screaming and chatting and singing over Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga's songs. Hmmm.... They really are enjoying themselves. She told me just now that they want to sleep late so that they can chat. Nak sembang apa lagi? Kt school sembang tak habis-habis. Aiyoo! Really wish I could sleep well tonight and hopefully they would wake up late tomorrow so that I can at least have 2 to 3 hours for myself . Penatnya..:(

Panaih!

cold drinks............heaven.....What's with the weather nowadays? Panasnya... Not to complaint but it is very100 hot. I drink lots and lots of cold water which is not good for health at all but what the heck, panas sangat. Frankly, those cold drinks only cool you down just for a while and after that you'll get thirsty again and again.
Here I am at 8.30 p.m, sweating like tut! And I've just taken my bath a moment ago. Thinking of showering again before I sleep ya. Ya Allah, bagi la hujan.. Sejuk sikit..
p.s : We, humans, never get satisfied eh? Astafirrullahalazzim....

Should I?
It has been more than 11 years since I left UKM, and no doubt I had some great memories there with many great friends. And I have been a teacher for more than 10 years now. After teaching in 2 different schools, I am still going on strong ( InsyaAllah). A week before the semester break the kerani in my school gave me this great news from KPM. I have been promoted (time-based la) from DG41 to DG44. That really is a great news, sebab with the new salary (grade 44 ) we will get like RM500++ extra. Alhamdullilah.
And last week, during the first week of the holidays, I got an offer letter to do a Masters Degree in TESOL. Hmm....Tak tau la... Yes, I did apply for it but I didn't expect to get it. Accepting this offer means I would have to change my schedule. Some sacrifices are needed in order to go through this phase of life. It makes me wonder, am I strong enough to walk on water? Smart enough to coming out of the rain? I'm now going where the wind blows....
I'm actually scared to face this new life, scared to be a student again, making new friends, takut tak terkejar nanti with school work, family and classes. Hmmm I really really don't know. My heart says yes, half of my mind says yes too but the other half is saying, "kesian kt Adia, kesian kt Rizal, hidup dah ok, awat nak cari susah, you lead a comfortable life now bla..bla..bla.."
Susahnyaaa...... Well, should I ?

Bapak
His name is Haji Hassan B Othman. He's 84 years old. He is not feeling well now and only eats a small portion of food nowadays. He's getting weak day by day. The old age is really catching up on him.
He used to be a big and strong man, see, he was a farmer. Raising 14 children was not a problem for him and my mum. But, they struggled jugak financially. To raise 14 children was not an easy task to do, but I never heard them complaint.
Being the youngest in the family, I didn't really see the hurdles or obstacles that they faced. Everything was prepared for me, come to the extend where other siblings got envied. I know this, but what the heck? That, my friend, is the advantage of being the youngest ;)
Anyway, I owe him a lot! I can't afford to pay back what he had sacrificed for me. He's a friendly man who likes to chat but now he has became very quiet, and once a while would cry and becoming too emo. Well, that's my pak. He has a soft heart.
I know that everything is in Allah's hand but I'm praying very very hard, if it is the time for him to go, Ya Allah, Kau permudahkanlah segala-galanya. Janganlah Kau membuat dia menderita Ya Allah.
I know sooner or later our parents will have to go and that time, like it or not we will have to face it. Frankly, I'm prepared to face it. Pity him, my pak. I love him as much as I love my mak tapi we seldom show our love and affection to him. Balik2 selalu dengan mak and not once I heard him complaint anak tak tunjuk sayang kt dia. I really hope that he knows that we love him sooo much....

MAY
Who is more excited?
Simple ja kek ni. I was a bit blurred with the number of candles, ingatkan baru 8 tahun ;)
I always love of the month of MAY. I was born on 12th May, Mother's Day is on the second Sunday of this particular month and teacher's day is on 16th of May. Isn't it great? Having 3 occasions in one whole month. And if I were a nurse, the Nurse's Day is on the 12th of May ;) (talking about greedy huh?)
I'm a Taurus and I came across this article about Taurus:Note: I bolded what I think is true 'bout me:
Taurus isn't necessarily like a Bull in a ring with a toreador. You could be more like peace-loving Ferdinand, seeking the gentle meadows filled with flowers, sunshine and natural beauty. It's only Taurus stubbornness that can make you angry enough to charge at someone who is disturbing your peace. Taurus are noted for your determination. You get to where you are going, not because you are exceptionally fast or clever, but because Taurus will not be distracted from your goals. Your need for stability and simplicity can motivate Taurus to create a life for yourself that is quite functional, though it might seem boring to someone else. But Taurus aren't interested in taking unnecessary risks that can put your solid footing in jeopardy. Taurus motto might be "Take care of the senses and everything else will take care of itself." It may be that your attraction to material things is less about the objects themselves than it is about the pleasure they bring to your senses. Comfortable living and working space is important to Taurus, along with nice linens, clothing, food and music. And, as one of the most practical signs, Taurus outlook on life is usually quite sensible. As Taurus plod along in life, getting what you need in order to survive, don't forget to look at the beauty that is beyond the material world of material possessions.
. Taurus Greatest Strength: Your sensible outlook on life Taurus Possible Weakness: Accepting less than you can achieve
We celebrated a 2 in 1 event recently, my bday and mother's day. Adia was so eager to have a "surprise" party for me but I knew about it beforehand and I just played along ;)
So last Sunday, I acted surprised when I came home from school, there was a small cake and kfc (no presents, I got mine in April). It was a small occasion as there's only 3 of us. But it's ok. I loved every moment of it. Enjoy the pics above ya.

Gundu!

I'm now 50kg! Now that I got your attention, do keep on reading. Haa..ha.. that is the truth my dear friends. 50 + 45 more = 95!!!! That is not fat. that's obese!
Let me tell you something, when I was in my teens and in uni, I was never a thin girl. But the heaviest I would go is 80kg. But I know my friends do accept me for what I am. It didn't really bother me at that time.
In 1998, I got engaged and I was at the peak of my weight, 80kg. It was not a very nice ceremony as I was "rendang" at that time. But deep in my heart I determined to shed some kilos before my wedding in 1999. So I had less than a year to do that. I wanted to be a beautiful bride.
Believe me, it was a painful painful process. But the determination was there and I didn't want to be a joke on my wedding day. Rizal is big but I didn't care coz I love him and it's ok coz he's a man(?!)
What I did was I exercise using skipping rope and cut down on my meal and it worked! On my wedding day, my weight was 56kg! This is a true story as you can see my picture above. Ohh... what a glory glory day it was!
But then, I got pregnant and as time passed by I let myself go......... I started to eat things I love to eat and there's no point or reason for me to lose weight. This was the biggest mistake ever. After giving birth to Adia, I didn't take cake of me. I let myself drifted away.......
This year marks the 10th year of my anniversary and also marks my 95kg! huaaa....
So my dear friends, the moral of the story is do not let youself go, I know we have families to take care but we ( I! ) need to put me first starting right now!
I will not aim for 50 or 55. I'm going for 65-70. Possible? Only time will tell. One thing for sure, I'm going to endure the same process again. Mak tolong!!!!

Do you remember the time?
Do you remember the time when we sang our heart out lagu Sampai Hati at block seven of PPP ? And I actually cried when my block 14 fell for Kak Na ( Tesl 4)? And I thought that was the end of the world where I would never get married and have kids!! Just wanted to marry that block 14 guy.
And I still have your small note hidden inside my thick dictionary asking me to buy Eagles' "Hell Freezes Over", and when I asked for money you would say, ala pakai duit hang dulu! He..he.. I bought it at Subang Parade.
Do you remember when 4 of us went to Subang Parade and watched " The Joyluck Club". I believed that was the best movie ever made. We really really really cried over the movie surrounded by apek2 and nyonyas yg actually understood the plot.
Do you still remember the Yoko Yoko incident? I swore I would never do that again!
Do you remember, every Saturday we would wake up late, put on our windbreakers ( and yours would be a checkered shirt) and had our stroll to Giants to buy the most delicious nasi lemak for our brunch?
You would be the one who prepared my opening speech for our talent night. Can't remember the whole speech but it ended with Sit back and enjoy the show.Ija was one of the actors who played a policewoman but she ended up wearing baju Pak Guard as her costume! Do you remember how we used to love talent nights, and fell for those who played acoustic guitars singing Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight. ( Was it Aran?)
And do you still remember studying in 415 and 215 while listening to Pilihan Bersama and our choices of songs would be like what else Sampai Hati, Di Sana Menanti Di Sini Menunggu, Would I lie to You, Dying Inside to Hold You, Sacrifice, Heaven Knows etc etc etc...
Those were the days when we didn't have to think about bills to pay, headcounts, panitia, and so on. I do miss those days but those make us learn more and be more mature and make us who we are, kan?

Huh?
Adia came back from school yesterday and told me something that I really hate to hear. She told me that there was this prefect, she hit Adia and Balkis on the shoulder andthen shouted " Sakit dak, gemuk?" Aiyo, that really pissed me off! I'm a teacher and I know the rules and regulations of being a prefect. You can't simply hit people suka2. So, I called up my friend who happens to be a teacher there and told her everything.
So, today she came home and told me that her PK HEM went to her class to investigate the case. She asked Adia what really happened and promised to take actions. And before she went out, she said " Balik bagitau kt mak,na". Bagitau kat mak? Takut kena saman ka? I won't do that of course but children can be cruel sometimes. A slap on a wrist won't hurt a child kan?
I'm not protecting my daughter, kalau salah memang salah. But she did not do anything wrong at that time and so did her friend.
So, we will see whether actions will be taken or not.

Kulim-Alor Setar-Sungai Petani-Parit Buntar-Kulim
For CNY we got 5 days off and Adia got 9 days. So as usual we have to go back to 2 kampongs, Alor Setar and Parit Buntar. First, we headed back to A.Setar on Friday night right after maghrib and reached there around 9 p.m. These are my (and Rizal's) routines if we go back to A.Setar:
1. Early morning - buy breakfast for mak and pak. My mom only takes kuih apam in the morning but my pak eats nasi lemak, mind u, dia ordered anything but nasi lemak in front of the school. We had to go to Kepala Batas to buy them. Don't mind at all. This is an opportunity for us to spend time together
2. Afternoon -Around 11.00 a.m buy lunch for them. See, my sis, she doesn't really cook when people are around.
This is called "peknga"
After 2 days spending time with them, off we went to Park Avenue, Sungai Petani for some R&R. We often do this as we only pay a small amount of money for the room. Last year we paid RM117 but this year the rate has increased to RM130 but still affordable.

Adia at the lobby with some merry CNY decorations. Eric Chia died here, it was his hotel what, but thankfully, nothing happened.he..he..

Tol Juru, packed with cars.

It took us quite a while to reach Parit Buntar as there were many cars on the road. Even here in Nibong Tebal, cars were moving in snail pace

Alhamdullillah, We reached P. Buntar safe and sound. Here's a picture of Adia and her cousins.

Here goes, My mom-in-law would cook for us, mind you, I just assist here and there. She's a good cook. We eat, we chat till wee hours. It would be merrier if everybody's there, from the first to the youngest. Chat and drink free flow of tea, Topics? anything under the sun. And sometimes they talked about the same old topics but I just played along as if the news was still new to me. Actually I've already heard about it for like 10th to 15th times!
In the evening we went to Bagan Serai to buy some shirts for Rizal. He's a big size man and it's kinda difficult to get a nice and decent Ts. It's either in Prangin Mall in Penang or Padang Besar in Perlis. Fortunately we found 1 place where they sell big sized Ts in Bagan Serai. We purchased some Ts and a shirt.
After lunch today, we headed back to Kulim. I'm glad we still have parents and I promise I will try to visit them often :)

Handbags
Giossardi - Bought in SOGO
My favourite - Sacha
I'm not an avid fan of handbags. For the past few years I had been using the same old Sacha handbag that my sis bought in KL. My hubby bought one in Germany during his trip last March, a Dolce & Gabbana. But I don't use it all the time as it is only for special occasion like pi makan kenduri. My Sacha was a very comfortable handbag to carry around. One thing for sure, I love oversized handbags as I love to throw everything inside it. From my purse to my buku mesyuarat. Not to forget receipts, tons and tons of them!
When I went to KL last December, I bought a new handbag. It was nice and kinda cheap. RM143 to be exact. Bought it in SOGO. Ok la, but not as comfortable as my old Sacha. Mula la tak mau bawak but too scared to admit, takut my hubby bising.
School reopened and I used that new bag despite the not-so-comfortable situation. Then, a friend of mine offered me this new handbag for only RM50. No brand, cap Ayam kot but it is oversized and sooo comfortable to carry. Penting nih! She bought it at the night market in Batu Feringghi. So far so good and I fell for it and paid her RM50.
Yesterday, we went to Sunway Carnival for our dinner and guess what happened? Memang Cap Ayam betul! The clasp of the handbag was broken and I just paid for it two weeks ago! Ruginya...
So, after much deliberation with my banker, he gave his consent and I got myself a new Elle handbag. It was a good bargain too. With 50% discount I only paid RM136.00.
So for the past 2 months I actually paid RM329 for three handbags! Opsss.... ;)
One Scary Fact!

I'm worried sick! Takutnya.... With recent situation where everything is still uncertain. I'm talking about the economic unstable situation. Whether we like it or not we have to redah ja. But having a partner who's working in an industrial sector, that would be a nightmare for us. Alhamdullillah I'm a government servant but God forbid if anything happens to my hubby's factory. So far so good and Alhamdullillah for that. But the future is uncertain for everybody right now. Just now in the news INTEL has closed their branch in Penang and followed by 2 INTEL factories in US and China.
All these while we have been sharing every single penny that we earn. We have agreed on that from the day we got married. I really really really hope that Allah will protect us from dealing that kind of barriers...
What else can we do except to pray to Allah? Pray very very hard! And I believe that's the best thing that we can do right now.....

LOVE OF A LIFETIME

I guess the time was right for us to say
We'd take our time and live our lives
Together day by day
We'll make a wish and send it on a prayer
We know our dreams can all come true
With love that we can share
With you I never wonder--will you be there for me
With you I never wonder--you're the right one for me
I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime
With every kiss, our love is like brand-new
And every star up in the sky
Was made for me and you
Still we both know that the road is long
We know that we will be together
Because our love is strong
I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime
I personally love this song by Firehouse. Before I met Rizal I had promised myself that I would dedicate this song to my loved one and he..he.. boy, I did. He also has his song for me and guess what was it? KC & Jojo - All my life! Tak romantik langsung! Anyway, I do accept him for what and who he is. This September marks our 10th anniversary and how time flies.
I actually met him in UKM and he was in the same Kamsis with Siti. She was the match maker la kekononnya. Our first date was in Beranang when he volunteered to send CT, Dla and myself there for our practical. The rest is history! I know he is not perfect in so many ways (who is?) but believe me he is my love of a lifetime...

Adia's Qiraati Update

Here's some stars for you Adia!
She started her Qiraati Class on 24th November 2008 and is doing very very well. Got herself some friends and she also assists her ustazah in teaching young students to recite Quran verses. Adia, I'm so proud of you and i know you started late but you managed to catch up with the rest of your friends. Congratulations and do keep up the good work :)
St. Patrick
And this is my first entry for 2009. I survived the first 5 days of schooling. As usual I'm teaching Form 5 and Form 4. What's new? Still the KP, still Ketua Pentaksir Kawasan, SPBT teacher and still going on strong (insyaAllah). So far so good. But after 5 hectic days, I totally surrender and took my first nap Thursday and woke up grumpily. It was not nice eh? It's Friday now and I got my much needed rest.
I did ask for transfer last year but again they rejected the application. I've been in the same school for the last 9 years and getting sick and tired of the situation. Students come and go but I'm still there teaching. On Tuesday my ex-student Ridhwan Saidin came to school. He's doing his TESL in Australia and I'm so proud of him as he says that I'm his inspiration..Ha....ha.. perasan sat but come to think of it, I'm kinda glad that he turned out to be ok. As for the rest of my students? well, some are doing well in Uitm and Poli, but majority of them are either Met Rempits or working in factories here in Kulim. Most of the girls are now married with children but they are not doing well in lives.
I will not ask much from my present students as I know they are weak and English is their third language after BM and Tamil. What I need from them is to concentrate in the class and not to misbehave in class. As for the boys, please do not fool around thinking that you people are so great. You guys don't even have sijil SPM, comprehend?
